Chairmans Message

Hello,

Thank you for the time you have taken to learn a little more about the Bellarose Foundation. As any patient who has gone through the rigours of chemotherapy will tell you, it is the stages after the treatment that is crucial in the recovery process.

The cornerstone of our contribution to society is the whole- hearted belief that...

The Bellarose Foundation can make a real difference to the lives of women going through treatment for cancer; we do this by providing practical care and home support through our partner participation in our Care 2 Clean Programme.

Researchers in the University Of Missouri School Of Health Professions have studied the lives of female cancer patients following chemotherapy, and found that their environment helps determine the quality of the recovery process.

The environmental impact of patients homes were found to be crucial factor in their recovery, as the study reported a lower quality of life and functional well-being for women returning home after chemotherapy.

Women also reported an increase in body-image issues, fatigue and depression. It is in this period that women need a sense of self respect and dignity, and through our practical care and home support, we can make a difference.

Our work is made possible through the participation of our partners, who agree to donate one free visit per week to a Patient. Without our Partners, the work of The Bellarose Foundation, would not be possible. We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to The Irish Cancer Society and our Corporate Partners who have supported us over the years.

With regards
Dermot McGuckin MPRII
